Meet the Our Staff!
The midwives at Casa Natal follow the Midwifery Model of Care, providing whole woman, evidence based care. We believe in the power of a woman's body to grow, nourish and give birth to their baby. We also believe that this should be a special time of support and care for each woman and her family. Each midwife is licensed by the California Medical board.
Each midwife that practices at Casa Natal has her own midwifery practice, caring for both home birth clients and birth center clients. We are all a part of the South Bay Homebirth Collective as well. To better serve you, we have office locations in Morgan Hill, and downtown San Jose. Please see each midwife's listing for her office locations.
Melissa Dean, LM, CPM
Melissa see clients at the birth center in Morgan Hill as well as the San Jose office.
As the Owner and operator of Casa Natal, I'm thrilled to welcome you to my space and support you through this magical time of your life. I have been supporting birthing families in our area for over 17 years. I began as a birth doula, and then realized that in order to create the best possible birth experience for my clients, I needed to be a midwife.
I am a graduate of National Midwifery Institute and have worked in both a low volume and high volume birth center setting.
I am happily married to the best husband ever, and have four amazing , (almost grown), children, a wonderful step-son and daughter in law and a sweet grandson!
Office Manager, Lactation Educator
Emily works behind the scenes to keep the office running smoothly.
Diana Vallarta Koroi, LM, CPM
Diana works part time at both the San Jose and Morgan Hill locations.
I am an apprentice trained, California Medical Board certified Licensed Midwife (LM) and NARM certified CPM since 2011.
I trained in home birth practice for 4 years followed by birth center and international placements for 3-6 month time periods. My private practice, Natural Family Midwifery, was founded in June, 2011 and I have been attending home births in California ever since.
I loved the family and support of the birth center community I trained in so much and I am excited to be returning to the model again with Melissa.
I am originally a Midwest girl, transplanted to the Bay Area back in 2003 or so. I love being outdoors and value health and a preventative lifestyle. I have enjoyed traveling, especially in the developing world and cherish all the amazing experiences I have encountered. Providing emergency birth support is a goal of mine, eventually. Dearest to my heart as an ongoing joy has been my own birth and mothering experiences, first of my daughter in 2017 and then my son in 2019.
I have spent my life working within women and children's health. I originally trained and worked as a homebirth midwife and doula in Boulder, Colorado.
More recently, working in OB/GYN and Pediatrics and have earned a degree from UC San Diego in Lactation Education.
Someday, when I'm done raising my silly teenagers I hope to finish my Masters in Public Health. I am honored and thrilled to be a part of Casa Natal.
